SPOTLIGHT ON R.M. MELUCH

Is it all talent?  Desire?  Tenacity?  What makes the difference between an array of materials (textiles, paint & canvas , paper & pen, lines & musical notes on a page) combined with the flick of fingers, twists of the wrists, and emotional reaction to the results and that all-encompassing concept called art?

I haven't asked R.M. MELUCH because I'm always rendered speechless by the sheer scope of some of her projects and the unique renderings of all of them. 

A woman of many talents, Rebecca not only writes bestselling science fiction novels (a full time job in itself) but is weaving a Navajo-design rug on a loom she built herself with cotton she dyed herself and alpaca wool taken from her own alpacas. Oh yes, she also spun the wool into yarn...and dyed that, too.  Did I mention that she also makes clothing that looks as if it came straight from the designer's studio? 

I have become a fan of all of R.M. Meluch's talents--as well as of Rebecca herself--and wait with equal impatience for her next science fiction novel, or pictures and tales of her current project, although she is rather diabolical about not tipping me to plot points in her upcoming books.  There is a lot to be said for: "Make me laugh; make me cry; make me wait."  Handwoven Navajo rug or bestselling novel, it's always worth the wait when it comes from R. M. Meluch!

Enjoy the pictures of her amazing rug and one of the alpacas who made it possible (no alpacas are harmed or destroyed in the making of same--Rebecca's animals are well-loved and pampered). 

So I can't tell you for sure if Rebecca's source is all creative talent, or desire, or tenacity but I suspect it is a very potent combination of all three.
